The Region Editor

Regions
LiteRadius allows you to define different geographic regions and configure the Google map view for each region. With regions multiple search functions can be configured based upon the origin of your users or specific business needs.

Defining separate regions is also beneficial when you geo-code locations as it will help you sort out locations that couldn't be geo-coded.

Create, Delete and Edit Regions

When the LiteRadius data tables are created, three default regions are created, US, Canada and World. You may edit any of these configurations to your needs by clicking the "edit" link for the region you wish to change. Or "Add New" if you wish to define your own region. Each region is uniquely defined by a region_id and region name.

To set the map view click the "Set View" button and adjust the map to your needs, then click the "Save Map View" button. This will transfer your view coordinates to the Record Editor. Click the "Save" button to record your settings.

NOTE 1: The current map view cannot be deleted as it is used by LiteRadius to display a map to the user. If you want to delete the map view region you must first change the default map view in the "Map Preferences" section of the admin control panel.

NOTE 2: At least one map view must be defined.

NOTE 3: If you delete a region for which you have defined locations, those locations will NOT be deleted from the database.

Using Regions

Once regions are defined they may be integrated into the user interface in several ways. The default LiteRadius implementation places a drop down list of the regions and places it on the main user interface. When a new region is selected the map is changed to the defined view.

If you only have one view you can simply remove the {REGION} tag altogether from the main user interface.
